Camille Bracher - Bio

Camille received her dance training in Johannesburg South Africa with Martin Schönberg. She won the Outstanding Contemporary Dancer Award at the Youth America Grand Prix (2007), the Junior Contemporary Division at the South African International Ballet Competition and second prize in the Junior Girls Division at the Helsinki International Ballet Competition (2009). 

Camille joined the Royal Ballet in 2010 and was promoted to First Artist in 2015. Her repertory includes Entertainer (The Invitation), White Cat (The Sleeping Beauty), Arabian dance (The Nutcracker), pas de six (Giselle) and a principal role in Infra. Camille had a pas de deux created for her by Tamara Rojo and had roles created on her in Wayne McGregor’s Carbon Life and  Woolf Works, Christopher Wheeldon’s Corybantic Games and Crystal Pite’s Flight Pattern (which received the Olivier Award for New Dance Production).

Camille performed as the principal dancer in Inala (choreographed by world renowned choreographer and director Mark Baldwin) alongside Grammy award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo at the Edinburgh Festival in August 2014 and at Sadlers Wells in July 2015. She performed with the cast of Inala in The Royal Variety Performance in December 2014.

Camille graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance Professional Dancers’ Teaching Course with a distinction in August 2018. She also completed the Guildhall’s course for Core Skills in Executive Coaching and Mentoring in August 2019. She received her Progressing Ballet Technique qualification in May 2021.

She joined Company Wayne McGregor from January 2019 to March 2020. She toured with the company all over the world and performed in pieces such as Autobiography, Far and Outlier. She was part of the worldwide premiere of Living Archive in Los Angeles (July 2019) which was a collaboration with Thomas Adès and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.

Camille has founded Ballet & Coaching by Camille which provides first-rate and successful ballet coaching, contemporary classes, stretch classes, masterclasses and life coaching. She runs a Junior Associates Programme as well as a Mentoring Coaching Programme for dancers ages 12+. Camille has taught for international companies including Company Wayne McGregor, Joburg Ballet and Cape Town City Ballet.

In early 2018, knowing her passion for teaching and interest to help young people progress in dance I gave Camille leave of absence to partake in the Royal Academy of Dance Professional Teacher Course which she qualified with distinction. 

When she decided to leave the company in early 2019 it was is pursuit of gaining even more experience both as a performer and as a teacher which she did with great success. Our daughter started training with Camille during the first lockdown whilst she was home from vocational school and absolutely loved working with her. She began weekly ballet coaching with her and this soon became the highlight of her week! She had lost a lot of self-worth and belief whilst training away, but with Camille’s positive and encouraging teaching she absolutely thrived in all her ballet coaching sessions, and with each week gained new strength and confidence. She was happy, improved so much, and enjoyed her ballet training again.
Things became increasingly more difficult when school started and we were so so thankful that Camille was able to provide weekly life coaching sessions to see her through, ensuring a safe environment where my daughter felt she was able to honestly and openly share. We removed our daughter from vocational training and Camille has been a huge source of support to us all during a very difficult time. Camille has been a continuous support and a safe place for my daughter and for that we are forever grateful.
I will always highly recommend Camille’s training as she is able to offer so much more than classical training. My daughter is very much looking forward to continue to train with Camille under her new 12+ associate programme and is now excited to see what the future holds for her.
